๐Ÿ“š EVERY DAY COUNTS

๐Ÿ“š EVERY DAY COUNTS

Elementary scholars learn new skills every day. Reading, writing, and math lessons build on one another, so missing school—even a few days—can make it more difficult to keep up.

Arriving on time is just as important. The beginning of the school day is when scholars build classroom routines, connect with their teacher and classmates, participate in morning meetings and social-emotional learning activities, and prepare for the day's learning. Arriving late can make it harder for scholars to feel connected, confident, and ready to learn from the very start of the day.

Research shows that students who are chronically absent in kindergarten and first grade are much more likely to struggle with reading by third grade—a critical milestone because students transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn."
