It is our goal to flood scholars with positive and meaningful feedback.  Focusing on as much positive reinforcement as possible will help us create a Stoneman community that is positive-behavior driven.  The following positive reinforcements are used at Stoneman.
  • Caught Ya’s - These are positive recognition given to individual scholars.  Teachers can give Caught Ya’s for “catching” scholars following one (or more) of the 3 Be’s and/or one (or more) of the LIM habits.  Scholars save their Caught Ya’s to spend at a monthly “Caught Ya Cart” that travels to each classroom.  Scholars should staple them in bundles of 5 prior to spending at the “Caught Ya Cart.”
  • Dolphin Dollars - These are positive recognition given to a whole class.  Teachers/staff can award Dolphin Dollars to other classes for showing the 3 Be’s at any time.  Classroom teachers keep track of the class Dolphin Dollar count.  Classes can redeem Dolphin Dollars at the end of each trimester (specific dates and menu choices will be sent out).
  • Extraordinary Scholars - Extraordinary scholars are recognized monthly for following the 3 Be’s, based on the rubric.  Scholars will receive a badge, special free dress day at the end of the month, and other privileges throughout the month.  All scholars who earn Extraordinary Scholar during the month earn this recognition.  Of all the scholars who earn Extraordinary Scholar during the month, classroom teachers select one scholar each month to receive the additional “Extraordinary Leader of the Month” award.  This scholar will be recognized in front of the whole school and have his/her picture displayed in the foyer. 
  • Principal Positive Phone Calls - If teachers have a scholar they would like to receive a “positive phone call” home by Dr. Megia, for any reason, they can fill out the form and put in Dr. Megia’s box.  This is an opportunity to recognize scholars for anything.  After Dr. Megia makes the phone call, she will send the form teachers complete home with the scholar to give family.
  • Goal-Getters Glow Up -  We will have an increased emphasis on data analysis, as it connects to our school wide goals. Each month (beginning in September), teachers will have the opportunity to recognize one scholar who exemplified growth or success in each goal.  Admin will present certificates and glow sticks to individual scholars.
